With the warmer weather come the fly-ins and open hours at the History Center. We are open every Saturday from 10-4 through September (or by appointment any day). There is no admission fee, but donations are gratefully accepted.
We have two fly-ins coming to the History Center this year. The Swift fly-in will be held the weekend of July 6th and the 34th Annual Jim Wright Memorial Stearman Fly-In is the first weekend in August, as usual (August 3 & 4).
If you’ve never been to a fly-in before, they are great fun and I highly recommend your coming out to one of them. Unlike a static aircraft display, the planes are all functional and the owners love to show them off and talk about what they’ve done to them. The planes usually start arriving on Friday afternoon and they will all be gone by midday on Sunday. The best day to come out is Saturday. The pilots may take off for a quick run to the coast for lunch, but you can catch them in the morning or later in the day, when they will often do a brief flight demonstration.
So mark you calendars now – you don’t want to miss out on the fun!
