On April 12, 2014, the Oregon Aviation Historical Society was delighted to induct Col. James Lester “Les” Meadows, USAFR (Ret.) to the Oregon Aviation Hall of Fame. Society members were joined by Col. Meadows’ twin sons James and Charles, along with granddaughter Melinda and great-grandson Justin. James and Charles presented a thoughtful and informative slide show and shared anecdotes of their father’s flying career. It is always nice to learn something about an Oregon aviation pioneer that is new to us, and this day was no exception. Thank you so much, James and Charles, for the effort you put into the presentation and for sharing your memories with us. And a big Thank You to Marianne Meadows, who sent two sunflower centerpieces that brightened up the hanger.
On another note, it is coming up on Open Hours season! Beginning May 3, the OAHS will be open from 10 am until 4 pm every Saturday through September (with the probable exception of the July 4 weekend). If you haven’t been down here yet, or if it’s been a while, you owe it to yourself to visit and see what is new at the History Center. If you are a member and would like to act as a docent on one of the open Saturdays, give DJ a call.
