If you are a regular follower of this page then you know that we’ve been doing a little “spring cleaning” and sprucing up for our summer tourist season. I am delighted to tell you that the interior painting is now finished and everything is all put back where it belongs. We have a bright new blue on the walls, previously stored art now on display, and new photo tracks for the Oregon Aviation Hall of Fame that leave plenty of room for photos to come.
Our next project is the Media Room. Many of you have heard us talk of this over the years and it is finally coming to fruition. The framing and the outer walls are up and we should be able to get the electrical installed and the inner drywall up in the next couple of weeks. Then we’ll paint it, hunt for floor covering and sound proofing (preferably donated), and we’ll re-position the gift shop unit to stand alongside the Media Room. We’ll be running videos on a loop during our open hours and events so that those visitors who would like to sit a spell and watch old newsreels or the Beaverton Outlaws videos may do so in comfort. We hope you’ll stop by this summer to check on our updates and see how we’re doing!
As a reminder, our summer Open Hours begin next Friday, May 6, at 10 am. We’ll be open on Fridays 10-3 and on Saturdays 10-4. Since our docents are all volunteers, it is always a good idea to call ahead on holiday weekends to make certain we will have someone here on that weekend. Our number is 541-767-0244, and the email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks to all of our volunteers for your hard work and dedication in these projects. We honestly couldn’t do it without you!
