1921—2021
¨ Oregon was the first state in the union to create an Aviation Department
¨ Oregon was the first state to issue licenses to pilots and aircraft
¨ Metal license plates were used to designate that a plane was legal to operate within the state
¨ For 100 years Oregon’s pilots have remained dedicated to providing the oversight and infrastructure necessary for a safe and efficient air transportation system
¨ Over the century the state’s airports have played a critical role in the lives of our citizens as well as the operation of our cities, counties, businesses, ranches and farms
The Oregon Aviation Historical Society has created a phenomenal travelling / flying exhibit entrusted with information and artifacts recounting the past 100 years in this unique aviation story in Oregon.
