 The museum's mission is to maintain the Cottage Grove Museum building listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serve as an educational resource to stimulate public interest through the collection, preservation and display of items related to local history.

 Located inside the former Boots and Sandals Square Dance Barn (the red barn),  just across from Bohemia Park.  The museum is a living and expanding memorial to all miners, and to the history of gold mining activities in the Bohemia Mining District.
